Like most Caucasian males in North America, I tried to grow a mustache as a teenager, and later on I tried to grow a full on beard. It just didn’t work. So, also like many guys growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, I was clean shaven for most of my adolescence and early 20’s.
And, here’s a photo of me almost completely hairless!
Then, I met a woman, who would later become my wife, who seemed to prefer some amount of facial hair. So, I grew a goatee. The earliest photo I can find of me having a goatee is 1998. Also, interestingly, around that time I decided to do some other experimenting with my hair, and died it blonde. Just to see what I looked like. The theme of ‘experimenting’ will be returning …

I let the blonde grow out, kept the goatee, and that’s pretty much been my look for the past 20 years.
I was even healthy at one point in time!
